In today's schools, there are many teachers, with the gender rate being close to 50:50 in many nations. Even with this, some people stick with their idea that women are better teachers then men, but I disagree. Men have the same capability of teaching as women do, and are actually preferred by private schools, which definately shows some insight into this arguement.
Generally, being a teacher means that the person is capable of teaching students and helping them understand academic topics. Being a woman does not necessarily give them an upper hand over this, because teaching skills are based purely on the teacher's skill and effort. This means that with practice and perseverance, anyone who sets their mind to become a teacher can succeed, no matter what gender they are. In fact, there are many male teachers currently holding a teaching job in schools that are revered for their ability to teach. Thinking that women are better teachers is a stereo-type that should be fixed. For instance, in my school, about 80% of the teachers were male, and the school's education level far surpassed schools in the surrounding area that had an even gender range. Of course, there may have been other factors related to this difference, but I believe that this can still provide a good standard of a male teacher's capability.
Furthermore, male teachers are preferred more than woman teachers, showing that male teachers may actually be better teachers. There have been statistics announced in Korea, which is my country, showing that male teachers are preferred more by private schools. Korea is known to have a high education level compared to other nations, and normally, private schools have a higher standard of education levels than public ones. Therefore, this statistic can show that male teachers can match, if not exceed, the skill of a woman teacher.
In conclusion, the comment that women are better teachers then men is a thing of the past, where there were more female teachers than male ones. Because of the capability shown by male teachers and the preference of private schools in Korea, I disagree with the statement that women are better teachers than men. |
