In the modern society, an importance of extended family is becoming less than before. As far as I am concerned abot this point, I believe that the extended family does not have an important position in this society. It is because the intricate system of the society induces people to have their own family, nuclear family. In this sense, I will list a couple of reasons for my opinion as follw.
To begin with, the complex system of the modern society seems not to allow for a form of extended family because to maintain this custom, people have to give up advantages. For example, people who are living in the modern society have each individual works; a grandfather has a job and a father has other job and the son has other his work. It means that it is destiny that people should have own house to fulfill their each work. Thus, for doing work more efficiently. people need to settle a place nearby the workplace. In turn, people should be separated from the extended family.
To be specific, in the past, people had to live together in big family. Due to a system of agriculture society, it was needed that certain the number of people should work hand in hand. To support a family, people had to work with cooperation in a big family. However, in the contrast to the past requiring clear communication life, today people can support their family for themselves.
To sum up, in the modern society, the number of the extended family is becoming less becasue this custom hamper more systematic social stream. Today, people want to settle in the form of nuclear family because they not only have a individaul works or workplaces , but also want to have more private space to spend a time for a rest and a recreation. For these reasons, an importance of the extended family is less than the past. |
