Some people think that university should
use their budget to improve access to technology, such as computers and
printers. On the other hand, some people think that they should use the budget
to create spaces where students can socialize. I truly believe that the
accessibility to computers and printers is more important than creating spaces
for socializing activities. The reasoning behind this is that students need to
use computers and printers very often for their courses in university and that
there are many places for social activities already nearby university.
To begin with, most of courses in
university require a lot of materials printed and information search by
internet. That is, students have to use IT facilities like computers and printers
to be prepared in classes. For example, when I took several courses in
university, I always went to a computer room for undergraduate student if I
have free time between classes. I searched a lot of information about difficult
materials on previous course and printed course materials for next classes. Thanks
to the computer room, I was able to take my courses more effectively in
university.
Secondly, it is not necessary to create
more spaces for social activities because there are enough spaces nearby
university already. In other words, there are many cafeterias and pubs around
university so that students can enjoy gathering party or social meeting. To be
specific, when I was a freshman, I enjoyed a lot of festival for students which
was taken placed in pubs in front of school. We can enjoy the festival in free
atmosphere with beer which was not possible in school campus.
In conclusion, I am convinced that it is
more desirable for university to use their budget to set up more computers and
printers than to create more space for social activities. Students truly need
to use the computers and printers for their studies. Also, there are enough
number of places for socializing which is more free to enjoy with some alcohol. |
