In a modern society, it is often said that people should have right to express their personalities and emotions by wearing their choice, and it is apparently related to human rights. Even though the basic rights should be preserved, however, I believe that there should be some rules over clothing especially in public places such as schools or work places.
To begin with, appropriate dress codes can encourages students to concentrate on their school works. Since people should abide by the principles of garments, thus their options can be narrowed down to a couple of stuffs. This encourages students to concentrate on their school works and also, it saves a lot of money and time for workers as well as students. From my personal experience, when I was in high school, my school changed a policy to enforce uniforms to students. At first I felt angry with the new discipline, however, sooner rather later, I felt comfortable and spent more time on studying instead of buying a new clothes. Owing to a uniform, I could improve a lot my grades. Through this experience, I strongly support the idea there should be rules on the clothing in school or workplace.
In addition, proper limitations on wearing are effective to lead the people’s behavior and consciousness to a positive effect. Wearing Uniforms in school can keep their students from smoking, drinking, and violation because they feel sense of belonging to schools and unity in uniforms, consequently, most of students become careful of their action unconsciously. According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Education in Korea, there were 30 percentage of decrease in juvenile delinquencies after the uniforms are obligated in some schools. Similarly, in workplace, although workers can complain about the company regulations on their apparels at first, before long, employees also become involved in company more than before. As the Harvard University in 2008 indicates in the report, the rate of fraud and deception in company has decreased by 25 percent after introducing codes of wearing in companies. | |
