Almost every student wants to go universities. But they all have different reasons for it. I believe that people attend universites for two reasons; they feel it as a obligation and want to make relationship with other people.
To begin with, a large part of students attend college because everybody else goes. In case of Republic of Korea, since they are forced to matriculate and their friends go, many students enter universities without any purpose. According to a study, in Korea, 95% of high school students enter college, but 55% of them fail to get a job. It means that they have never or meagerly improved their abilities in the colleges. They have no idea why they go universities.
In addition, some of students matriculate universities to make a social relationship. This is because, often in society, this kind of bonds with other people are helpful for their careers. Therefore people try to broaden social circle by attending universities. For example, one of my friends, whose name is John, successfully adjusted to society. In SNU, one of most famous colleges in Korea, He got along with a dauther of SAMSUNG's chairman, the owner of the monolithic corporation. Thus, as graduated, he got into the company.
In conclusion, some of undergraduate students attend college because everyone goes, and the others do it to widen their social bands which finally would help them in society. If you are one of students belongs in the former group, I would strongly recommend you not to enter university or make a cogent object for it. |
