Those who believe that the technological development will result in the efficiency in work might say that people will enjoy leisure activities more because they will have more time to enjoy them. However, I have a contrary opinion. There are two major aspects: intricate human relationships and competition among peers due to the complex world.
To begin with, I believe that people will be more busy having to deal with complicated relationships with others twenty years from now. In a sense, it might be true that people will be more self sufficient and care less about others in the future. However, it is not close to the truth. As society is getting more developed, human relationships will be getting more intricate. Therefore, the degree of importance of maintaining good relations with others will change dramatically. It is now to care more about one's own work and family, but in the near future, it will have to be others work and business that they need to care about in order to have a stable life. If a person is not stable financially and mentally, she/he is less likely to enjoy his/her free time even if there is much time available for him/her. Therefore, in order to enjoy as much leisure time as possible, people need to fous both on their work and others work so that they can maintain intimate relationships with others. In addition, people are social animals. Plato once said that people are the happiest when they feel the sense of belongingness. People need to depend on others if they want to enjoy their lives completely, which indicates that people will have less free time to enjoy their leisure activities because they need not only to take care about their work but also take care about others' work in the future.
Moreover, when it comes to competition among peers are concerned, there is not much to say about leisure time. Competition among people has been on the increase. In the past, people were not really earger to be better than others because they were too busy taking care of their family members and themselves. However, now as society is getting more industrialized, people now want to be excell others in order to feel the sense of accomplishment. Their desire will be fiercer and greater in twenty years from now. For example, there was only a few number of people who went to the States in pursuit of getting better education. On the contrary, there are a unaccountable number of people who are in the foreign countries not to be behind the trend. Like this, the more time goes by, the more people are busy keeping up with the trend and try not to fall behind others. That means that people will have less time to enjoy their time to just relax and feel the sense of being alive. Therefore, in my opinion, people will enjoy less of their time spending on their leisure activities.
In conclusion, from intricate relationships with others to competition among peers, there will be more barriers that keep us from spending our time on leisure activities in the future. Therefore, I think it will be more important for people to manage time more wisely and not to be stressed out too much due to many factors.
