Nowadays, many parents believe that early education plays an important role in their young's successful lives because children learn faster than adults. However, from my point of view, forcing children to study hard is not such a good idea, and therefore they should spend time in a way which fits their age, which is playing. The rationale behind this statement is because there are some things that can be learned only at young age. As well, children do not know the importance of study.
To start with, some abilities can only be developed when young. When children play, they usually spend their time together with friends watching cartoons or playing with toys. These activities improve children's social abilities not to mention imaginative power and creativity. Therefore, allowing children to have such precious experiences to obtain the abilities is critical because individuals who did not have such experiences can not easily develop these elements due to their busy life styles and abilities to see the world in more realistic ways. To illustrate, a study conducted in Korea has proven that as early education rate increases, high school students' overall creativity and imagination ability have decreased. Also, it showed that children who did not spend enough time communicating with other youngs had difficulties dealing with personal relationships in their later lives.
Moreover, children do not recognize the significance of learning until they grow up. Since children lack abilities to understand society fully, they do not see the reasons why they should sacrifice themselves to learn things and time to have fun. This simply leads to lack of concentration in class time and waste of time. On the contrary, adults and teens have capabilities to set their goals by themselves to achieve what they want and have more serious attitudes and therefore can spend time more effectively. For example, I once worked in a children education institute and saw many of them who were brought by parents there. They did not feel the importance why they should study, and as a result, they wanted to play more than to learn. Consequently, I had to spend half of the time calming them down instead of teaching.
To sum up, I firmly believe that it is better for children to spend their time playing than sitting in front of a desk studying because they can get more valuable abilities and don't think they need to study hard yet. As an old saying goes, everything has its own timing. | |
