Over the centuries, people have had a relationship with animals which are domesticated for food and pets. Over times, people natually have had a deeper relationship with domesticated animals. This relationship also led to a special psychological relationship between humans and animals: people accepted them as a kind of family members. I think this relationship has advantages in terms of psychological and physical effects.
To begin with, more intimate relationship has a strong psychological influence on humans, For example, I saw the elderly were treated with dogs in some hospitals because dogs could give the elderly calm, relaxed feelings. Likewise, if we accept the pets as a family member, we can have enormous advantages with regard to psychological aspects. Playing, touching, caring and sharing emotions with pets make us feel good. Also children with a close relationsship with pets will have more positive attitudes towards every creatures including family members.
Second, this relationship gives us physical benefits as well. For example, as far as I am concerned, I walk my dog every morning and this also makes me have a healty body. Also the physical contact with pets have positive effects on children. A study shows that children with regular contact with pets are less susceptible to certain infectuous diseases like cold, flu and so on.
To sum up, pets are not likely to disapper with human society. However, it is quite awful to see many pets are abandoned nowadays. If we are to accept them as a family members, I believe this tragic consequences will be less severe and our children will be learned to have more responsibilities about pets. The most important and beneficial aspect of this relationship is every human being will have more warm and caring attitudes towards others and this, in the end, will be more beneficial to our community as a whole. |
