Some people might argue that we have to study the past to solve the problems of the present or futher. Although I partly agree with the saying that the past is a mirror of the present, I strongly believe that in these days, we are facing newly emerging problems which have not existed before. First challenge is the envirnonmental issue and the other one is the problem related new technologies.
To begin with, unlike the past days, we are struggling to deal with serious environmental problems. Today's environmental problems are rapidly increasing and becoming more destructive not as we can anticipate at the past. Global warming is one of the greatest challenges to human beings. This envrionmentla problem is attributable to carbon emissions mainly caused by the increasing number of cars and use of fossil fuels. This cause climate changes. Among them are natural disasters such as unusual storms, frequent drought, and melting iceberg. Thse bring about not only economic losses but also seriuos health risks. Scientific studies have warned that without coping with the global warming, more serious consequences will occur. Under this circumstance, more and more countries are taking environmentally friendly measures such as improving public transportation or developing more promising alternative energy sources. To break through the environmental crisis, we should take more effective actions and researches not just to understand the past.
On top of that, new technologies require new rules and education. Especially, the Internet technologies have effects on our society in new ways unlike of the past. The Internet provides countless kinds of information and new type of communication. However, at the same time, it contains numerous problems such as invading private information or personal attack from anonymous. According to many news articles, children are mainly responsible for these new social problem. Thus, we need new type of rules and education. These are not the same as something we could face at the past.
To conclude, what we are faced today is not the same as something we did at the past because new environmental or technological problem are occuring. Consequently, we have to focus to deal with today's issues rather than to understanding the past.
