Some people think that giving away money to
charities related to food & house or small businesses is important in terms
of the development of society. However, in my opinion, helping charities for medical
care is more urgent than these two. There are two reasons. First of all, people
with insufficient money would be died without medical measures. Second, the better
medical care system would improve people’s quality of life.
To begin with, medical treatment requires people
to pay a lot of money. People who don’t have enough money to receive the
treatment would eventually pass away. Through the help of some charities, these
people would be able to have the medical care and it will lead to save a lot of
life. According to a survey conducted by the Medical Insurance Association in
Korea, the number of people who cannot have basic medical treatment has increased
10% more than 10 years ago. Moreover, the entire 30% of Korean with no
insurance would not be able to have big surgery even though they have the
ability to make a living. This is due to the fact that the price of surgery has
increased with the flow of the time. This survey demonstrated that these people
would be in danger if there is no help from the government and charity. Therefore,
I think it is the most urgent problem to be solved because it is closely
related to people’s life.
On top of that, the development of medical
care is a good way to increase the quality of entire citizen’s life. This is
because everyone goes to hospitals whenever they have some diseases and get
injured. If people can receive better quality of medical treatment at lower
price, their quality of life would be improved. For example, there are some medical
centers run by non-profit organizations in Korea. According to recent survey
done by Korean Herald, people who live in areas with these centers have the higher
satisfaction of their life than people who have to go to private hospitals. The
main reason is that the cost for medical care occupied large portion of their
spending and these centers reduced their financial burden. However, it is also
true that the cost for food and housing catch larger portion of living costs
than the cost for medical care, but it is difficult to adjust the prices because
they are more affected by market logic.
To sum up, problems for medical care are
closely related to death so I think it is the most urgent issues to be solved.
Moreover, non-profit medical centers would help people cut down on their living
expenses. In this regard, I would like to donate money to a charity for medical
care.
