▶ Your Answer : 전문성에 좋다 / stressful
Some people might argue that students should sign up for elective courses in a wide variety of subjects. However, in my opinion, I personally believe that students should take courses that are directly related to their majors for two reasons. This is because taking courses that are related to their majors would broadly expand their knowledge, and it is stressful to take courses in a wide variety of subjects. To begin with, to enhance students' knowledge, it is better to concentrate on their major. When students take elective courses which is highly related to their major, contents and knowledge are correlated to their majors, which will help them understand better in such courses. In addition, students will have wide comprehension of their majors. For example, recent study conducted by Korea university determine which students have better grade whether they take relevant elective courses or the counterpart. The group of students take courses in similar to their majors have been reported average seven points higher score in eighty-seven percentage of elective courses. This is because students can easily understand overall contents of courses. This obviously shows that relevant elective courses are better than the others. On top of that, taking various elective courses is much stressful to students. This is because students nowadays are too busy due to the competitiveness of their majors. Spending spare time on various courses, therefore, would be a burden to students since students have to separately study on such courses. My own experience demonstrates convincing example of this. When I was freshman in college, I took courses in various subject. I wanted to learn as many things as possible, but when I had to take exam, I struggled to memorize different kind of knowledge in the same time. I, consequently, ended up with lower grade that I expected. If I have taken courses that are related to my major, it would have been easier to get higher grade. To sum up, students can easily develop their knowledge by taking relevant courses, and because students will be more stressful if they take courses in a wide variety of subjects. In this regard, I strongly believe that it is better to students to take courses which is coincidence with their majors. |
