Some people may think that understanding the past is not important to tackle obstacles facing us now and in the future. However, in my opinion, to know the past is critical for us to smartly overcome the difficulties by subsequent reasons.
To begin with, only when we are aware of the past enough, we will be able to overcome the economic crisis. For example, Korea suffered from Asian Financial Crisis in 1997, which led to the gold gathering movement over the whole country. Because the Korean deeply knew that hard time, they could avoid another disaster, Global Financial Crisis. To be specific, they maintained the sound financial state to evade the sluggishness in case that might occur. At the time many huge nations collapsed economically in a row, but Korea was one of the countries that endure the harsh environment relatively easily. It is no coincidence that Korea could get over the adversities. Without the experience from the past, it would not be manageable.
Secondly, we can expect and prevent the environmental problem in the future through the knowledge from the past. We all know the ice age long time ago was due to the increase in water level on the earth, which was derived by the warming period. Because the CO2 level in the air is the one of main factors that cause the increase in temperature of our planet, reducing the CO2 movement has been disseminated all over the world. This is also one of the examples of importance of being aware of the past.
To sum up, comprehending the past is significant both economically and environmentally. These experiences give us wisdom to get over the difficulties. For these reasons, I firmly believe that admitting and understanding the past is one of the major factor to overcome the problem. |
