[TOPIC] The Animal Experiment |
In this set of materials, both the reading and the lecture deal with the animal experiment. Regarding this issue, the lecturer argues that it has certain drawbacks that cannot be overlooked. This contradicts the writer’s claim that there are of benefit that not only for human but also animals themselves. First, according to the lecturer, the animal experiment cannot be justifiable since they have their own right to be treated as valuable as human. Even though some of them lead medical developments, it is immoral that take monkey as a subject for AIDS virus and toxic chemicals. This refutes the writer’s argument that animals are needed to be utilized for the medical improvements. Moreover, the lecturer goes on to say that it is not reliable at all because proponents were often overstated the results despite of side-effects. Furthermore, there would be some alternatives can be beneficial, such as laboratory tissue experiments. This counters the reading passage’s viewpoint that the ramifications of this procedures offer credible medical information. Lastly, the lecturer mentioned that the subjects of experiments are not identical with human which causes results that cannot be trusted. Especially, in the case of Chimpanzee who has intelligent like human, should be regarded as moral. This casts doubt on the writer’s claim that animals are required to be researched since they share much of similarity with people.
