There are a lot of teenagers who work when they are still students. A substantial number of people think that it’s a bad idea because they think that students have to focus on their study. However, contrary to this opinion, I strongly believe that having jobs will bring a very positive influence on teenagers. The rationale behind this is that teenagers can learn about money use and how to take responsibilities of it. Also, they can prepare themselves for the real world. First of all, having jobs can teach teenagers how to use money wisely and how to take responsibility of their spending. Most teenagers work because they need money or want more money. So, when they get money from their workplaces, they would spend it. Since the working money will be more than pocket money from their parents, they would have to learn how to spend it wisely which they would learn by spending the money. Also, if they made mistakes with the spending, they would also learn how to take the responsibility and consequences. For example, when my sister got her first job in 10th grade, she got $1,000 for her work which was way more than what she got from her parents. With that much of money, she lost her ability of organizing and she started spending the money on food, clothes and other kinds of entertainment. Soon, she used up almost all of the money. My parents were disappointed in her immature behavior and she was upset about herself too. So, when she received her next payment, she used it only on things that she needed. Now that she has learned her lessons, she is a responsible grown-up. Moreover, having jobs can help teenagers preparing themselves for the real world. By working at certain workplaces, teenagers will learn how to keep the rules and other things that they need for others’ proper treatment. That way, they would have already gotten used to the environment which others will have to get used to when they are grown-ups. This can help them with confronting the real world. For example, my cousin had job when she was a teenager. At first, she was frustrated with her boss and her work and she had hard time with getting used to the working environment. But, after the effort of trying to get used to everything at work, my cousin became a very good worker even as a young teenager. Now, as an adult, she works way better than others who are just learning how to deal with their jobs. In conclusion, without any doubt, I strongly believe that having jobs as teenagers will have really positive influences on them. They will have opportunity to learn how to spend their money wisely and they will also be able to get ready to face the real world. |
