Teachers should be paid as much as that of lawyers and doctors. |
Many people have been debating the pros and cons of the idea that teachers are needed to be paid as much as that of lawyers and doctors. From my personal point of view, I strongly agree with the above opinion that teachers are requested to be financially satisfied as much as other high-ranked jobs. This is because, first, the role of teacher is important as much as that of lawyers and doctors. Second, teachers do much more than they are paid. To start with, the role of teachers is critical as much as that of lawyers and doctors. Some people might assert that teachers ought to provide certain knowledge and information about a subject. Teachers, however, are asked to perform more than that because they determine the future of students by motivating and encouraging them. Thus, it is justifiable that teachers paid as much as that of lawyers and doctors. To illustrate, take my friend David`s case as an example. He used to be a narrow-minded and incapable student when he was a high school student. However, he was really good at memorizing the information on the textbook than any other students in the school. His teacher, Erik, recognized his innate talent and recommended him to apply for law-school as his future career. Even though he was not that excellent and outstanding student at the moment, but, Erik could see his future and motivate him to be a judge. Surprisingly, ten years later, David became a one of the most praiseworthy judges in Korea. Thus, as we can find in this anecdote, a teacher can change the future of a student.
In addition, teachers deal with much more works than their payment. Nowadays, teachers perform much more than those of past. Even though they can be assisted by technological development, they have to handle a variety of works at the same time. These include organizing regular counseling with students, participating the teachers’ council and planning the innovative lessons. Thus, teachers are so demanding that they ought to be compensated more as other respectable occupations. According to a survey recently released by the Korean National Research Center, more than two thirds of the surveyed teachers of the top 100 ranked high schools in Korea responded that they cannot relax themselves even on the weekends since they have too much workload. They also mentioned that comparing their monthly payment, they conduct too much things, and thus this aggravate their motivation to teach their students. Thus, there is no wonder that increasing the amount of money for teachers might bring about passionate teachers in the future. In this context, it is quite certain that teachers should be paid as much as that of highly paid jobs such as lawyers and doctors. All in all, accruing the amount of payment for teachers needs to be considered positively in terms of promoting the potential ability of students and teachers’ motivation of teaching. The role of teachers is as important as that of lawyers and doctors, and teachers do much more than they are financially compensated. In general, I wholeheartedly believe that the very first thing we should do now is admitting the importance of the reasonable payment for teachers as the first step to go up the society ladder.
