It is better to spend time with one or two close friends than with a large number of friends |
It is often said that it is better to spend time with a fewer close friends than with many friends. Some people might agree with this statement because they feel intimacy with close friends. At first glance, this opinion seems to be somewhat appealing. However, I agree that spending with many friends is preferable to with one or two close friends because I can broaden my views and develop my social skills.
To begin with, spending with many friends allows people to broaden their perspectives. It is obvious that they share their interests and hobbies with others who have different backgrounds. Consequently, they can have opportunities to learn about other things that they did not have interest in. For example, during my high school year, I joined a sports club in school. I could make different friends who enjoyed extreme sports such as bungee jumping and rock climbing. Before I got to meet them, I considered them strange. However, while sharing and taking common interests including grades, girl friends, and family with them, I could reduce my prejudice against them. If I had not met them in high school, I might have avoided them until much later.
In addition, through interacting with many people, I can develop my social skills. As one might expect, the more ones meet others, the more they have chances to practice their interpersonal skills. Accordingly, making a lot of friends plays an important role in being socialized. To demonstrate, according to the Ministry of Education of
In short, I strongly believe that students should spend their time getting along with many friends. This is because they can not only have opportunities to broaden their horizon, but also improve social skills. Therefore, the importance of mingling with many friends can not be underestimated to survive in a modern society. |
