It is more interesting to read a book for the second time than to read it for the first time. |
It is debatable whether reading a book one more time more interesting than when reading first time. Some people say that people can take its details when read a book for the second time. However, I strongly believe the idea that we can gain the most interesting things through books when we read it for the first time because we can expect unknown conclusion. Also, we tend to read a book more carefully when we meet it for the first time. First of all, we can take the best interests when we read a book for the first time because concealed conclusion stimulates our curiosity. A buried conclusion allows us to imagine our own conclusion while we read a book and when its conclusion meets what we imagine, we can feel catharsis. If we know the conclusion, we may lose interests against the book. For example, when I was a high school student, I was reading detective novel, Sherlock Holmes-A red headed-league by Arthur Conan Doyle. I was so wandering who is the criminal and how Holmes resolves the case but one of my best friends Young-su spoiled my interest. He told me who was the criminal and how he was arrested by Holmes. Although I read just a few pages and I enjoyed it, I lost interests about it because I knew the conclusion. In addition, when we read a book for the first time, we can more concentrate on the book and it allows us to catch details that enable us to more enjoy the book. Once we read a book, we think that we know the story of the book and involuntarily ignore the detail. It a critical factor to reduce interest. For instance, one of recent studies by Ji-sun Kim, one of the most famous psychologists in Korea, show the result that people who read an article at one time more remember the detail than people who read it for the second time, it has considerable gap between each chances. As seen this example, reading the same book for the second time can reduce interest because it interferes to focus on the book’s details. In conclusion, reading the same book at twice can harmful to enjoy the book because uncovered conclusion discourage people to maintain their interest and it interfere their concentrating ability. |
