Those who consider having as much knowledge as possible to be the key to success might say that a University Education should be free to those who want to pursue their education and broaden their perspectives in a certain field they are intersted in. However, I think a Universiy Education should not be provided free of charge to all those people who want to upgrade their education backgrounds. There are two major reasons: to avoid adverse effects in the long run-
To begin with, Those who want to get the quick result might like the idea of making university education free of charge because then more people will interested in having a university education. In a sense it is true that the more people pursuing a university education, the more developed and convenient society we will live in. However this can result in adverse effects in the long run. From having incompetant professors to having to use lower quality facilities, there is nothing worse than making a university education free of charge. Moreover, once students are getting used to the fact that a university education does not cost anything, they will start to wonder about the importance of having university
education again. Therefore making a university education can not be the solution to helping people more educated in the long run. Thus, I highly doubt that it is worth while, let alone effective in improving the world around us.
Furthermore, when it comes to developing the world is concerned, governments can spend their money more wisely than wasting it on making a university education free of charge. There are many people who are suffering for various reasons. They die not only from natural disasters but also from starvation. From building houses to harvesting more crops for them, there are nothing more urgent than making a plan to help them. It would not be too late to educate people after saving those who are dying from the lack of necessities. As society is getting more complexed, people are more highly educated.
Therefore, the urgent isseues that the government should take care of has changed. It was to educate people, but now it is to help those who are dying due to poverty. Therefore it is more essential for governments to take care of them and distribute their budget more wisely instead of making a university free of charge which is unnessary.
In conclusion, as far as having a degraded quality of education and the possibility of spending a government budget more wisely is concerned, a university education should not be provided free of charge to all interested people. People can make a choice and have a more than enough ability to achieve their goals even if they may seem to impossible to get.
