There has been so many controversial debate over which is more important in choosing job between getting higher salary and pursuing mental fulfillness. Like each person has particular criteria for their choice, corresponding to the sense of value, I have a view of one side and specific reasons supporting my opinion. I believe that occupation should be selected for satisfying one's expectation of joyful and delightful life, and there are especially two chief reasons. One of these is job is not a method for earning much money, but a goal for feeling achievement and self-esteem with many other elements in life as it is. The other reason could be explained by sociological side effects as a result of excessive competition related to former basis.
First of all, we should consider why we works everyday hardly spending limited time which could be otherwise used to other important events such as meeting friends, traveling with family, having a jogging. That job has synonymous vocabulary, 'calling' virtually means it should be a pursuit of whole life and so we spend nearly every time except sleeping in working. Through this time, we could learn more sagacious and prudent way needed for daily and at times get confidence by co-worker's encouragement and compliment. These days, the fact that each country try to make a plan to help older people get some works in steps with coming aging society examplifies why job is important for people as it is. If we just regard the time as unavoidable thing to get some money, the job is at best waste of time and energy. Hence, being happy with job should be listed prior to the matter of money.
Secondly, various kinds of side effect that can exist when working people don't attach significence on dignity of working purpose also disproof why we shouldn't indulge in wealth. A typical example on the effects are frequently shown on TV or newspaper. For instance, many students graduating from university every year tend to staying unemployed till entering conglomerate. This phenomenon aggravates national economy state as well as many companies' unstability on operating. Suicide incidents or absurd lobbies triggered by too much stress or temptation for promotion and higher salary would also reappear unless awareness on this matter changed.
From these reasons, we could come to the conclusion that misconception on job leads individual and even whole society into squandering priceless resources. So, before choicing occupation, I strongly suggest that serious consideration should be a prerequisite to be happy with our calling. |
