The number of cars will increase in the future. Do you agree or disagree? |
It is debatable whether there is more number of cars in the future than now or not. Some people say that the number of vehicles is going to increase in the future because the price of cars reduces more and more. However, I strongly believe the idea that the amount of cars disappear gradually because the benefit of mass transportation is increasing and the price of fuel is increasing dramatically. First of all, increasing convenience of mass transportation discourages people to buy cars. People can go anywhere without their own car by using public transportation such as buses and subways. Moreover, riding public transportation is more convenience than driving own car because we does not have to suffer from traffic jams and arrive destination on time. For example, last Sunday, I went out for meeting my best friend Young-su in Jong-ro. I usually use subway whenever I go out for meet my friends but the day my father wanted to bring me there by driving his car because he also went there due to business meeting. It just half hour distance from my home by riding subway, but I spent almost an hour because traffic jam and I regretted that I had not used subway. As seen this example, advantages of public transportation reduce the necessity of cars. In addition, too expensive oil price prevents people to buy cars. The price of fuel is increasing severely now and it is predicted that it will be higher. Many car owners suffer from this higher oil price and many of them quit the driving a car, even more some of them sale their car because they cannot afford to gas supplying money. Recent studies by Hankyurae daily newspaper show that when the price of oil over 100 dollar per a barrel 10.5% of car owner stopped driving their car when they go to their work place and when the gas price over 140 dollar per a barrel, that perhaps occurred last week, about 22% of car owner give up their car. In conclusion, there are fewer amounts of cars in the future than present because expanding public transportation makes people to not need to have own car and too high gas price prevent people to buy a car. |
