it is bettter to spend on a thing that will last a long time or a short-term pleasure such as the vacation |
There has been an argument regarding the issue that spending on long lasting things is better than transient pleasure. Some people say that since life is too short, it is better to find something interesting and enjoy it. However, from my perspective, I do agree with this statement for following two reasons. First, in the process of enduring hardship by horning ourselves for long lasting things, we could make a progress. Second, in the long run, it will eventually give us bigger satisfaction. Most of all, we could make a progress in the process of horning ourselves and enduring hardship. To illustrate, let me take my experience for example. When I was second year of high school, I had not enough time to prepare for the scholastic achievement examination for college entrance. However my scores of mathematics were not excellent. So I decided to spend my whole summer vacation on catching on mathematics. Although some class mates were absent to classes for enjoying their vacation, but I attended all mathematics classes. Of course, I wanted to go travel for pleasure. Nonetheless, I put my best into studying mathematics during whole summer vacation. After finishing first mid exam for mathematics, I found I got the first at my grade. If I just consumed my holidays for amusement, consequently I could not focus on my study intensively. I learned that although at that moment, we suffer from hardship and sometimes need to be patient for our foremost goal, we could make enhancement through these difficulties. It also will long last due to based on our arduous efforts. Moreover, in the long term, it will finally give us bigger satisfaction. A study which was conducted by “the Korea Development Institute” in 2007 reveals the related results. people who more focus on their long run goal while enduring hardship are likely to be more successful socially and financially than the others. The other group who rather preferred using up their time on transient happiness also said that it is much beneficial to do more for the future rather than enjoy now. They also mentioned that reaching one’s own goal makes people to feel much more contentment and it will advantageous financially as well. Thus, to obtain deep satisfaction, we should improve ourselves while being patient for difficulties. In short, I do agree that it is better to do more for long last things rather than take short pleasure time in that through these processes, we could enhance ourselves. As a result, it will make us satisfied deeply.
