Wether or not attending a seperate school is more important than attending a co-educational school raises many questions. Some people argue that attending a seperate school is better than co-educational one. However, I firmly believe that entering a co-educational school is much more beneficial than going to a seperate school. There are two reasongs supporting my idea; prejudice and socialization.
To begin with, co-educational school is better than seperate school because it helps students understand each other. To be particular, as students in seperate school rarely have chance to hang out with other sex, the recognition they have toward other sex usually depend on the content of tales spoken by other people. Those stories are usually distinguishing men and women with traditional concepts such as "men are wild and women are hysteric." even though people are having various features and personalities. This leads students to lack the understanding each other. It also builds students' prejudice against different sex. Since we need to understand each other for the society pursuing equal human rights, it is necessary to go to co-educational school so that they can know each other not based on prejudice.
In addition, co-education is important for socialization. People who were in seperate schools usually have a difficulty in dealing with other sex. In other words, after they graduate school and get a job, they cannot communicate well or deal with any problems occured in work place. For example, people from seperate high school or seperate university(women's university) tend to feel awkward when they face others who have different gender because they have never had chances to have a converesation with other genders who have a different way of communicating. This is not a good symptom as many companies nowadays emphasize cooperation, or team work. Men and women from seperate school have hard time to work together and sometimes have conflicts due to lack of understanding. For this reason, students need to be exposed to an environment that allows men and women to be together and know each other to develop their socialization skills.
In conclusion, going to a co-educational school is better than seperate school for both male and female students as they can have chance to be together so that they will not have prejudice based on traditional stories and they will communicate well in a workplace. |
