It has been said, “Not every thing that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why? |
Knowledge is gained basically from two sources: from books, and from experience. The two sources tend to be similar each other, but also are very different from each other. People have long been debating on this issue, on which source to be taken as more important account. In my opinion, I definitely prefer experience to the books. To compare the two sources, I cannot miss to illustrate the very stark contrast between the two. It is that experience is a “direct” way of obtaining knowledge, and books are an “indirect” way. Basically, experience leads to knowledge, to a term we call as “know-how.” Books, like direct experience, are derived from experience, but the difference is that books are written based on someone else’s experience. That is why I call books an “indirect” source of knowledge. By this difference mentioned above, knowledge gained from books has a critical disadvantage. Considering that books have been written based on other people’s experience, especially who have experienced in the past, knowledge gained from books often gets obsolete and impractical. I cannot guarantee that reading a 20 year-old book can be as good as meeting the real field. What I experience is the very real and live experience, not to worry about applying what I read in the books. |
단어수도 달리네요;;; 아무래도 처음 접하는 문제 유형에다 시간의 압박 때문에 삽질 좀 많이 한 거 같아요-_-;
