There is an ongoing debate whether or not choosing the job you feel satisfied with is better than a well paying job. Some might argue that financial stability is the most important matter when considering a job, however, I feel differently about this argument. This is because people's physical and mental well-being is more important than money and that having a job one is happy with gives a better chance for that person to succeed in his or her career. This essay will further elaborate these ideas.
First of all, health factor should be considered. People should always keep in mind that a large sum of money isn't paid without a price (cost?). To illustrate, I have a friend who worked for Samsung. Samsung is a large conglomerate that is known to relatively pay their employers generously. However, my friend and her coworkers always complained that they over work too much and that they feel restless all the time. In a matter of fact, my friend eventually quit her job after working there for three years because of stress and stress related illnesses. This is not just confined to her case but there is also a lot of cases like hers. After she quit her job she opened her own business and she loves it. She says that her stress is gone and that she regained her health.
Another reason why having a job of ones dreams is more important than having a highly paid job is because it gives him or her a greater chance to succeed in their career. According to a research conducted by 'Korea labor Association' in 2007, it is revealed that people who enjoy their work have a 25 percent more of a chance to succeed in their work field. People who reluctantly work, however, have a 40 percent more of a chance to quit their job before reaching their pinnacle moment of their career. This includes the ones who even receive a handsome amount of money as of 30 percent more of the average amount of money regular career people receive. On the other hand, people who do the work they like, tend to put their passion in it and even when they have to work over time, they do it willingly. When they confront hardships, they do not easily give up but they work through it which is the key ingredient to success.
In brief, I firmly believe that regardless of how much paycheck people receive, everyone should do what they like. I do not underestimate the benefit that financial stability gives, however, to be truly successful in their job while maintaining good physical and mental health, people should pursue their dream jobs. |
