While in 60's or 70's not so many people lived for 60 years, nowdays people live for up to 80years or more. The average lifespan is getting higher and higher longer and longer so far. Though there are bad facts like environmental pollution or social stress that can shorten our lifespan, it seems there are more powerful facts that make us live for a longer period. Two of these important facts are medical development and economy growth.
To begin with, our medical development have come a long way. It seems we can treat every diseases with medical technologies. For example, When we have liver failure, we will transplant artificial liver or insert liver assistance device to make it recover. Medical development also made it possible to diagnose diseases quickly so they can be treated before they cause tragedy using medical devices like MRI and CT . Plus, medicine is also one of the important facts that make our lifespan increase by making newer and stronger ones. Because of medical development we can diagnose diseases fast and treat them fast with better medicines.
Now less people suffer from starving due to economy growth. Poor people would skip meals because they don't have money and nutrition balance would break down, which is really bad for their health. These days, however, more and more people are escaping from the situation as economy grows. They have enough money to buy food comparing to the past. They also started to think about the qualitiy of the food for their health. Economy growth also brings a better welfare system so poor people have more chance to eat and be healthy.
Our life span would increase more as time goes by thanks to medical development and economy growth. Though it's not sure if it is really good to live a very long life, we would be able to live as much as we want in the future.
