The reading passage says that nurture (or it is nurture which) has greater influence in determining a person’s personality. But, the lecturer refutes this idea by saying nature is the primary factor to form one's personality (for influencing a person’s personality). He states two (2 )reasons for this claim.
greater influence(가장 큰 영향) 와 primary (가장 중요한, 근본적인) 는 유사한 의미라고 할 수 있습니다. 그런데 reading passage 에서 말하는 것도 lecturer 가 말하는 것은 "대조"를 이뤄야하므로 주어진 script 에 기초해서 단어를 바꿔줄 필요가 있습니다.
First of all, the reading passage discusses that children become alike with their parents. For example, a child whose parents are doctors, the child has a high probability to become a doctor as well. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that kids are not heavily influenced with their parents. 1. He gives an the example of the orphan who has a high intelligent quotient and is being adopted by an average IQ parents. Though(,) the parents have an average IQ, it doesn’t influence the child’s IQ.
Secondly, the reading provides that when we are young, we are controlled by what we see. It mentions that certain mental diseases could be classified as * acquired ( or learned behavioral disorder). Conversely, the lecturer says one’s DNA has is the most important role part in determining a person’s personality. He gives an the example of twin kids who have same exotic phobias for water when they reached the age of 13.
