8. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The invention of the Internet has had negative effects on your civilization. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. |
I do not agree with the statement that the invention of the Internet had negative effects on our civilization. In fact, I believe the exact opposite; I believe that the Internet had the most positive effects on our civilization because of these three factors: the fact that exchanging of information became faster, the fact that the exchange of information has now became easier, and last, the fact that the internet had enabled us into more widespread exchange of information. The first factor I have mentioned is that the invention of internet had enabled us into exchanging information much faster. Before the invention of internet, most people had to wait for the newspaper to come out in the mornings, or even sit through the television commercials to see just 3 minutes worth of news information on the latest things happening. With the invention of the Internets nowadays, the people who want the information could get it whenever they want, wherever they want, and even what kind of information that they want. The invention of internet has indeed contributed a lot to the world, that some people even say that the reason that the world is going faster and faster is almost all Internets doing. The second factor that is also important to contribution of Internet is that the Internet enables us into sharing information a lot easier than it was without the Internet. During wartimes, the warring sides had to get their information to the allies without getting them to the enemies’ hands. If the information fell into the wrong hands, the results were disastrous. With the invention of internet and email, there is almost no worry about that compared to the times without the internets. Well, there is the concern of being hacked, but people who wanted to get the hands on the information always outwitted the ones protecting, but the chance had gone minimal. The last and the most important factor is that the internet had enabled us into more widespread exchange of information. Unlike the snail-mail, the internet is much faster and could share information multiple times, whereas the traditional means of communication required the sender to write up more copies of the same information, essentially causing more miscommunication and less shared information. Internet, would share pictures and videos, making the message better. These are the three factors that made me contradict the statement that the internet had a negative effect on out civilization; the fact that the internet is faster, that the sharing of information is a lot easier with internets, and finally, that the internet allows us into widespread knowledge. Sometimes, those factors might seem risky to some, but nothing is entirely good, or bad. The internet, too, is not an exception. |
