Dear Sir or Madam,
This letter is for your more profound comprehension about me. I'll introduce myself except for the simple information already included in the CV but this letter will be based on the CV.
I hereby divide my letter into two parts to help you read easily.
First, why do I apply for exchange student to your University?
I have dreamt the world filled with Love and Justice. Although my major is electronics engineering, I’m really enthusiastic with social issues and social problems. The most interested part is "Education", especially for poor children who can't afford to go to school. I think that the world will be better place when all children get love, attention and proper education.
In Korea, there are many children in need. But there are more the poor people who are dying because they don't have food for a day, in Africa or India. The news from there makes me sad and throws a question to me. What will I do? What is the truly faithful life? After considering, I decided to work for poorer people internationally. There are several ways - UNICEF, foundation fund and international NGO. For achieving my dream, I need to improve English, if possible German or Spanish, and experience many different cultures.
Language Ability and Culture, How?
As far as I know, Austria is center of European culture. Mozart and Gustav Klimt are absolutely well-known through the world. Also Austria is adjacent with many countries; German, Italy, Swiss and Hungary.
Moreover European education curricular system is well-known for excellence, especially in Austria and German. Furthermore I can be exposed to two languages; English and German.
So I'm sure I'll kill two birds with one stone; experiencing various cultures and getting great education.
Second, what will I do for exchange student?
Becoming staff of UNICEF, it is required to have fluent English skill and second foreign language ability such as French or German. I think it is nearly impossible to get the job right after graduating university, because I don't have sufficient career, also my major, electronics engineering, takes somewhat lots of time to study. Proficient language ability and insight into the world are essential for becoming UNICEF staff. So I'm planning to get the position in UNICEF after build my career at international business or international NGO, instead of entering UNICEF directly. That's why I'm planning to take business administration course.
As you can see in my CV, I steadily put effort to teach students who are in need, even though I don't have much fortune or skill now, because that is my lifework.
And I think the most important fact in learning foreign language is how someone is exposed to the foreign language. If someone is in the country where use German, he or she will be able improve German ability better and easily. I consider this exchange student program will give me great chance to learn German needless to say of English. Also I have been studying basic German to access to German easily when I'll get there.
Also I'm interested in European industry. I saw several times the reality of European industry in TV documentary program. In the documentary program, many Europeans retain their family business on the traditional way. I was impressed. In Korea, it is rare to keep traditional way in almost field of industry, because Korea has undergone rapid industrialization since 1970s. So many people regard quickness as a virtue. But I think tradition, which can make products special, will become more significant as an era of globalization is coming. I look forward to learn European artisan spirit.
Thank you for reading. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
