Some argues that students should learn the specific skills in advanced schools. In my opinion, however, high schools and universities should more focus on teaching students about fundamental subjects, such as mathematics, languages, or histories, because the students might not have enough opportunities to learn those courses after schools. Not only that, if students study sufficiently the basic courses, it might be easy to study specific careers.
To start with, students might not enough opportunities to learn the general subjects out of the schools. I believe that schools are the last chance to learn those basic courses in our life. On the other hands, students might have lots of moments to learn the specific skills in the workplace or society. For instance, when I found the academia to study Korean history after graduating schools, there was no place to teach it. However, there are lots of places to teach the specific skills, such as computers or accountings. Not only that, my work place has provided the accounting classes for the workers. Therefore, students should learn the basic courses in high schools or universities.
Secondly, I believe that general courses are more important to the students rather than the skills, because they are the basis of study. In my opinion, to be specific, study or learning might be like building the pyramid. Thus, people should build strongly their first stage, which is comparable to learn the general subjects. If first stage is built solidly, the students are easy to learn any skills or courses. Therefore, students should focus on learning fundamental subjects in high schools or universities. For example, I can easily learn the accounting courses in the work place, because I learned mathematics in schools.
To summarize, I believe that students should more focus on learning basic courses in high school or universities rather than specific skills. It is the reasons that students might have lots of opportunities in the society, and general courses are the basis of learning specific skills. |
