It is often said that people need to get information from diverse news sources in order to be knowledgeable. Personally, I agree with this idea for the following reasons. First, if they get materials from one news source, people can misunderstand. Second, by getting information from a lot of news sources, people would broaden their horizon.
To begin with, getting entries from a news source stops people from learning correctly. On the other hand, if people are informed of a variety of information, they get to know truth by comparing what is the correct answer. According to a research conducted by Seoul National University, more than 60% the respondents answered that they often misunderstood several issues when they got information using a news sources. The study pointed out that many sources encouraged people to know accurately, emphasize that it made people's communication soft. In this sense, one news source can act as an obstacle that hinders people from getting to know correctly.
In addition, a wide range of news sources encourages people to broaden their horizon. This is because different news sources make a statement in their position. Using many materials, people can easily acquire new perspective. For example, I used to read a Chosun news only. However, when I happened to read a Hangyure and Sinsegyeabout Irak war, I can discover new view. Because Chosun news said always it was a selfish and short-sight action, I just thought that Irak war is an inappropriate measure. Fortunately, by reading Hanyure and Sinsegye news, I discovered some appropriate points such as secure and stable world. In this regard, a variety of news source contributes to becoming knowledgeable.
In brief, I firmly believe that we can reap benefits from diverse news sources. Not only can we access accurate information, but we can broaden our views. |
