As citizens, people have rights to know almost everything about their country, from the slight events to big social affairs. In order to be sufficiently informed, there is a great need for people to access information from a wide range of news resources. In this way, people can get relatively more accurate knowledge and also can have broader views of the world.
To begin with, various kinds of news sources allow people obtain more precise information. This is because as people can compare information they get from different news about a certain topic, they would find new ideas and understand better. For example, once I researched about the abused human rights of Muslim women and as I gather many different news from disparate sources and compare, I could have a better glimpse of the issue. Furthermore, there would be flaws in some sources. Thus, Accessing different kinds of news sources would help people to find mistakes.
Secondly, people can possess broader perspectives of the world from meeting various news sources. It is obvious that news do not contain subjective opinions. However, there is a slight input of personal feelings or empathy into news in some cases. For example, when people read news from the foreigner press about their country, they would feel somewhat different than when they read Korean newspaper. Some foreigner news contain their views of South Korea or the image of South Korea from their angle. Therefore, as people get information form various news sources, they can develop a new perspective. If people are confined to only few sources, then they will not be able to think about things at many different angles.
All in all, I agree with the statement 'In order to stay well-informed, people should get information from various news sources' for two reasons ; They can broaden their ways of thinking and attain more accurate information.
