On any given day, it is inevitable to see parents being confident with their influence on child. (parents being the main influence on ~ ?) Even though parents might seem influential since they live together (as a family,) in same house, it is a widespread misconception. On closer inspection, friends are the most significant factor in young adults' lives. The reason behind this is that they young adults generally spend more time with their peers. Furthermore, same age groups have more similarities between themselves than their parents.
To start with, bulk of entire day is spent with peers in school rather than with their parents. In today's hectic lives, it is difficult for busy parents and studying teenagers to have memorable time even though they are family. In contrast to this, during the entire school hours, (while at school,) friends can be a great influence on youths as parents cannot monitor their children. For example, according to a recent study conducted by National Sociology Center, it was found out that youths are with their peers for more than the half of a day. nearly 15 hours a day, including time in school, academies and various clubs. Parents, however, only spend 5 hours with their kids,(only few hours 라고 쓰는게 좋을것같아요^^) lessening the opportunities to strengthen a bond with each other and be of a considerable influence.
(그래서 "어떻게" influence 가 된다는것인가요? 그냥 influenced, 왜냐면 spend time more with ~ 이렇게 끝내지 마시구요, 예제 또한 어떤식으로 influence 가 된다는 건지 말해주세요~~!!)
In addition to this, young adults are akin to each other in most aspects. They enjoy similar hobbies, worries and happiness. Never can parents Parents can never be as close as friends who are great companions to each other. To illustrate this point, when I was in high school, I was in disaccordance with my parents because they did not acknowledge my favorite music genre, rock. (항상 conflict 가 있었는데, 그게 성적이나 공부에 대한것도 아닌 음악이었고~. 이런식으로 좀 자세하게 써주세요!) Although I understand that jazz is more appealing to older generation, I could not help feel more comfortable with my classmates who are also great fans of rock bands. Then, we went to concert of a Muse, (명칭이나 이름에는 the, a/an 붙지 않습니다) a famous rock band in England, which my parents hated a lot. Judging (choosing or choice , choice 를 쓰면 문장이 달라져야겠죠~!) between friends and parents, I chose (choose! 경험이나 사례를 설명할때를 제외하고, 자기 주장을 나타낼 때에는 항상 현재형으로 써주세요^^) my peers, because they are the ones who appreciated my hobbies in from the first place, not my parents. (Unlike my parents~ 이렇게 문장을 시작하는것도 좋을것같네요!) This clearly shows the power that the same age group can put on each other.
In brief, teenagers tend to follow their friends more than (the OR their) parents, which results in friends being more important. Spending greater part of teenage days and maintaining stronger bonds thanks to various common characteristics contribute to this phenomenon. (For parents to be as influential as their kids' mates, they should try hard to understand their beloved child more.)
