"As you sow, so shall you reap". In other words, the more a person put in efforts, the more likely he will succeed. Although some people consider being lucky as a guide to success, I strongly believe that only hard work can results in one's victory in life. A rationale behind this is that people who strive for their goal are satisfied with what they have. Furthermore, money and fame achieved from mere luck can cause harm.
To start with, those who reached their goal with endless effort are thankful with their current positions. They value the time they put in hard work and are also gratified with the achievements made by themselves. On the other hand, being rich and famous with mere luck is too easy to be happy with what they have. For example, my sister became a boxer after 10 years of hard training. Though those 10 years of hardship was difficult to manage, she won remarkable championships several times. She was always delightful with her position and proud with herself, recalling the past ten years. In contrary to this, another boxer became a champion in the tournaments just because other boxers were sick at the time. Though he was ranked in similar positions to my sister, his happiness did not last long. He took his rank as granted, thinking that it is not hard to accomplish. In this sense, being unhappy with own life cannot be regarded as being successful.
In addition to this, opportunities come to only those who are prepared. Even though a person is granted a window of opportunities thanks to luck, it is worthless if he has no ability to present. However, those who trained themselves for long time, waiting for the day to come will show themselves to its fullest. To illustrate, Oprah Winfrey have always dreamed of being an entertainer since she was young. When she was a college student, there was a big movement concerning discrimination against the black. Hence, it was easier for her to pass the entrance exam as she was the black, which can be seen lucky. However, according to her biography, she always practiced talking fluently and showing herself to her fullest. In other words, her success would not have been possible without her hard work.
In brief, I definitely believe that being fortunate does not guide people to victory. By putting great efforts, a person can be confident with their achievement and prepare for the time they become lucky. Rather than waiting helplessly for luck, set your goal and push yourself to higher stage.
