▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that students should be given assignments on a daily basis while, other people think that differently. Both sides may have their own reasons to support their views, If I have to choose one, I would say that teacher should not give their student homework everyday. There are several reasons and example as follow. First of all, having to do homework daily conflicts with student’s other pursuits. Students have many interests other than academics, so it is important to give students time and opportunity to pursue these interests. If they have homework every day, they have a difficulty in participating in after school activities like physical activity. For example, when my cousin entered high school, he decided to join the newspaper club. Because he wanted to be a journalist in the future. However, his teachers assigned a lot of daily homework, so he could not have time to write a article. Thus, he had to quit the newspaper club. This means that teacher’s requirement for daily homework prevented him from doing very important thing at that time. On top of that doing homework everyday does not always result in better performance. In fact, there is no evidence that it provides students with any educational benefits. Researchers performed a study with students. Half of the students received daily homework, but the other half did not have assignments everyday. The result was that, in general, learners who did not have homeworks from teachers obtained higher scores in their classes than whose who received a large amount of homework. This study shows that doing homework does not give rise to better scores all the time. In brief, I firmly believe that the disadvantages of doing homework far outweigh its advantages. All in all, the importance of having time to pursue their own interests cannot be underestimated in student’s lifetime. |
