The reality people often encounter shifts
an individual's experience. It is ironic to think an experience itself is
affected by their past experiences. However, considering how the past
experiences distort, transform, and misrepresent the reality people perceive, it
seems clear that experiences can make differences in people's perspective.
Though many people see this topic as children should have art and music as
mandatory school subjects, my perspective is children should not have art and
music as essential subjects. The concepts of health and a college admission
clearly this theme.
First of all, taking a lot of mandatory
subjects such as music and art is too stressful for students. This is because
if they are forced to do something that they are not interested in, they can
feel a waste of time taking classes and become unhappy at school. This stress
students out. In fact, stress is one of the primary factors of aliments (illnesses) because it weakens the
ability of immune system fighting for diseases. For example, my father, a doctor
of a general hospital in a city, usually tells me that many of his young
patients suffer adverse health effect from stress. They come to him for stress-related
ailments. He has found the relationship between stress and human diseases such
as high blood pressure, myocadiac infraction, and carotid artery thrombosis.
Therefore, it is helpful for students to not take music and art as mandatory
school subjects.
Second, focusing on essential subjects such
as math, history, science, and language helps students go to good university.
This is because if students can concentrate better on essential subjects, which
is critical to go to the university unlike art and music, they can spend more
time preparing essential subjects of Korea’s college Scholastic Ability Test
(KSAT). This can bring about better outcome for entering university. As modern
society has increasingly specialized, today's universities are looking for
students having such high score about essential subjects of KSAT. Therefore,
these are important to fight for entering university in highly competitive
educational society. However, if art and music have been mandatory school
subjects, most students are dispossessed of their time for preparing crucial subject
for KSAT. For example, my grandfather, a professor of a national university in
Korea, tells me that high score about essential subjects of KSAT except art and
music class is important factors to go to the outstanding university. In order
to go to good university, it is better for most students to not have art and
music as mandatory school subjects.
Truth must settlement at some point; only
one perspective survives, and the rest subsides into history. In such a case,
man must ceaselessly refine his view until it is finally accepted as truth. I
have corroborated my perspective on this topic children should not have art and
music as mandatory school subjects with stress and college admission. It is
time for a settlement.
