It is often said that people are not content with what they have and are eager to get what they don't possess. In my opinion, I agree with this idea for the following reasons. First, most people are likely to be easily fed up with what they possess by instinct. Second, advertisements make people want to have more.
To begin with, being weary of what they have is a human characteristics from being born. Of course, we can observe that people are satisfied with one's own materials after achieving their goals. However, even the activities can be considered as greed and, generally, continue to desire more. To illustrate of this, babies always cry in order to get milk or sleep. Furthermore, young children often fight with friends just to have a large of pizza or big toys. On top of that, even adults wants to get well-paying positions to have considerable money. In this regard, a human nature contributes to wanting and possessing more than before.
In addition, advertising plays a pivotal role in an increase in a level of covet. As competition between all companies becomes fiercer than ever before, in order to lead the market, advertisements increasingly entice people into buying more. This is mainly due to the fact that when people see the commercials, they think that the materials they have is not enough to function properly and hope to buy a new and functional products. Let's take my younger brother's case as an example. He had a mp3 player but was reluctant to use it. This is because he felt it was not useful and out-of-date when he watched an advertisement about state-of-the-art music players. Since the music players had several extra functions such as a larger memory capacity and better sound effect, he eventually bought it. As his case illustrates, advertising stimulates people to be eager more.
In brief, I firmly believe that people are not satisfied with what they have whenever and wherever. This is an innate feature of human. Also, advertisements lure people into superior items. |
