Both airplane and car are a revolutionary invention that significantly changed human life. However, I think that airplanes had a bigger impact on human history than cars. I feel this way for two main reasons, which I will explore in the following essay. First of all, thanks to airplanes, the world became smaller. People and goods can easily travel from country to country. My experience of ordering a T-shirt from Amazon is a compelling experience of this. Last month, I had ordered a Nike T-shirt I had been craving to have from a seller located in New Jersey, US. The T-shirt had to be first shipped to Delaware on ground and then transported across the sea to Korea. I was expecting more than two to three weeks for the product to reach my home. But it only took less than a week for the product to be delivered from New Jersey to my house in Korea. If airplanes did not exist, it would have taken over months for any goods to be transported from US to Korea. Secondly, airplanes can help us gain more knowledge of Earth. Airplanes can fly over places where people do not have easy access to and discover new information. For example, few days ago researchers found several holes in North Pole which they believe that are formed by warm air or water flowing under the ground covered by ice. No one would have thought that warm air or water exist in North Pole, which is considered as one of the coldest places on Earth. Consequently, I think airplanes had greater impact on human history because they can fly far distance in short time and because they have easier access to certain places.
