These days, interest in education is increasing endlessly to improve the educational atmosphere, techniques and policies. Some emphasise the importance of understanding ideas and concepts. However, learning facts is the utmost because it provides basis to comprehend ideas and concepts and enhance students' level of knowledge.
First of all, students often have difficulty of grasping ideas and concepts in various subjects. One of subjects that need intense comprehension is literature. Before beginning to read the literature, students and teachers usually allocate time to learn about facts such as backgrounds and history of authors. For example, prior to studying Lord of the flies, students learn the setting which was World War two and characteristics of the author: William Golding who received Noble prize of literature due to this text. After acquiring these basic facts, students are ready to begin because these facts affect the style and content of the plot of the book. In this usual case demonstrates that factual information is more crucial because comprehension does not follow without it.
Moreover, facts are often common sense that is required in living daily life. If one has a lack of factual resources may succeed in memorizing the concepts but not thoroughly understanding them. My friend Rebecca who studies really hard but does not receive high results compared to time and effort that she pours in. We evaluated her situation and came up with an answer that it is due to her lack of common sense. For example, she did not know where England was or the capital city of United States until we taught her with patience. Her limited results were unable to improve due to her deficient factual knowledge. Her example shows facts play a vital role in academic development.
By taking advantages of the facts, students are eligible to maximise their abilities to understand concepts and ideas and quality of knowledge. The saying knowledge is might clearly illustrates the significance of acquiring facts.
