In this harsh world, people tend to be selfish and greedy; finding a true friend who is always generous and friendly is difficult. In my opinion, I prefer to have intelligent friends rather than humorous friends. The reason behind my preference is that intelligent friends can provide help in study and suggest wise solutions when I face any problems.
First of all, intelligent friends are able to assist in improving one's poor subject. With their knowledge and generosity to spare their time to teach, one can become expert in one's concerned subject. For example, my friend Jeffery is allocated in the highest mathematic class and he always becomes first in exams. When I told him that I was under extreme stress and pressure over mathematics since I failed my previous exams, we made a plan to go to library regularly and he kindly taught me the core topics in detail with his own tips and knowhow of solving the problems in a quicker and easier way. I started to understand and enjoy solving mathematical problems with his company. As a result, my mark has improved by 20% in the yearly exam which was a miracle.
Moreover, not only they provide academic help, they are capable of giving useful advices. They may counsel people considering their feelings and reactions to the problems applying their maturity and intelligence. They know thoroughly what to say to comfort the others and what to avoid in order to not disturbing one's feeling. Intelligent friends can enhance one's mental health always pouring sweet words to encourage and convey a sense of hope.
In conclusion, no definition of choosing right friends exists. However, consorting only with humorous friends may have difficulty of discussing serious matters. Thus, intelligent friends are more necessary in life to enrich the quality.
