It is not so hard to find some ‘special’ people who are challenging to new fields and changing their careers so frequently. The funny thing is that they do not end these ‘uneasy trials’ at just once, but try continuously. In the end, they find out what are really appropriate jobs for them and succeed in that spheres with being respected by people. Meanwhile, since challenging to new things does not always make up the happy endings, many people do only what they already do well which helps to be more stable and comfortable. However, I myself have the strong opinion that people should try new things all the time because it helps to meet new people and to adapt to this challenging society.
To begin with, we can make new relationships in new fields. In this highly developed and complicated society, various devices and technologies are seeking for eagerly to displace people’s vacancies. In this situation, there is nothing more important than interactions among people. Specially, meeting new people in new fields would give changes to people’s lives and make it more abundant. When I just got into twentieth, I was kind of surprised to meet new people. Before entering the university, since my hometown was pretty small size, I always met same friends and same people living around my house. However, after getting admission from the university, I inevitably had to move to another place and make new relationships with new people. In that process what I found out was that the world was really broad and there are so many kinds of people living around. Some people easily got mixed up with me while others kept make conflicts with me. However every meeting with new faces was really a priceless experience. It was not so hard to learn many values from them, such as sociability and responsibility. One thing for sure is that the new relationships make people’s life much more valuable.
Moreover, new challenges help people to be more flexible to the diverse society representing the diversity. Maybe it is a pretty simple problem. Will it be easy to adapt to this fluctuating environment for person with multiple skills and experiences in various fields or those just an expert in a field? Of course the former will be absolutely better. I once saw a static that a company prefers those who have many careers in their curriculums than just professional in one sphere. It is because the society does not easily allow people to survive and succeed by just following formal path. While making many trials to new field with taking risks, people not just end in learning new skills. People get to know how to get along with new people and the new unsuitable environments. Also people gradually get to know how to deal with new problems in the fastest ways. It is the ‘adaptability’. Taking risks, finally, helps people to gain the adaptability to new places, new circumstances. No one teaches. We can only learn it from keep challenging to new unstepped path.
Needless to say, it is not an easy decision to give up what we have done lately and jump into a whole new field. It may cause a serious result that can never be back. However as I mentioned above, it is surely worth to take that risk. Thinking of the advantages from meeting new people and gaining the adaptability, people should not just give up so soon. There is an old saying that clearly states the importance of challenging. ‘No pains, no gains’. We will never get to know our real values unless facing and challenging to new things. |
