To help students academically and help their graduates fide job, many universities fund their libraries and other academic facilities at the expense of sports activities. In the 'real world', sports are considered as a waste of time at worst and a pleasant diversion at best. However, Sports activities can improve not only student's physical health but social skills as well. Therefore, Universities should fund an equal amont of money in both their libraries and sports activities.
First of all, Sports activities foster physical health. This is evidenced by numerous studies that clearly show that Physically active aerobic excercises such as running, swimming, especially during one's 20's, build and strengthen muscles, bones, and joints. More importantly, habitual excercise has a positive influence on circulation of blood and reduces the risk of hypertension and diabets. To illustrate this point, My cousion led a sedentary life by being glued to the computer for hours on end everyday. Inevitably, he suffered from obesity as resulf of his inactive lifestyle. However, he began to lose considerable weight after he joined the walking clug in his college and walked for two hours everyday for five months as his doctor suggested. Likewise, students can reap numerous benefits from participating in many physical activities.
Also, Sports activities foster student's social skills. This is because a variety of sports activities include group activities that require collective efforts and cooperation. The best example is soccer. when particitating in soccer, they cheers for other players and work together to attain the common goal of leading the game to victory, which is cannot be attained alone.
To summerize, I definitely believe that Schools should give as same money to the sports activities as to the libraries. On the whole, I agree with the saying " A sound soul in a sound body " In other words, Mental fitness from physical activities is most important factors for students success.
