Smart Car |
In this set of materials, both the reading and the lecture deal with the issue of smart cars. Regarding this issue, the lecturer argues that smart cars have certain drawbacks that cannot be overlooked. This contradicts the writer’s claim that it is of benefit for the drivers as well as national economy. Firstly, according to the lecturer, the smart cars pose a serious threat to drivers more than [conventional vehicles]good since people are not able to notify those cars of small sized at the streets. Therefore, those cars are more likely to get crushed on the highway, and thus lead the traffic safety at the edge of cliff. This refutes the writer’s argument that smart cars allow peoepl to keep the safety of the traffic by using lesslower speed. Moreover, the lecturer goes on to say that the advent of smart cars can provoke more traffic congestion due to the fact that it urges more drivers to become flooded out of the roads. In addition, it probably doubles the numbers of cars since it accommodates only two passengers on the vehicle, which will bring about provoking people to buy more vehicles. This counters the reading passage’s viewpoint that smart cars are able to dwindle, diminish the problem of traffic business in these days. Lastly, the lecturer also mentions that smart cars are not economical means of transportation at all. As scientific research has been proven, the gas mileage of the smart cars is just slightly better than that of diesel vehicles. Accordingly, people suddenly lose their primary reason for accommodating and establishing those revolutionary cars by spending considerable amount of money. This casts doubt on the writer’s claim that the smart cars boast up the less maintenance cost which enable people to stay with frugal lives. |
