People learn more by watching television than reading books.

It is often said that people can learn more by watching television than reading books because it is now available in public places such as sport centers, train station, and even in cellular phone. However, I believe that reading books are more beneficial for people for the following two reasons: it enables people to understand a story more in-depth and soak in information based on their own pace.
To begin with, reading books allow people to understand a story more in-depth. This is because television conveys oversimplified information for a short time to attract more viewers, ranging from educated to uneducated. Thus, people can not know the details of events from the television. For example, when 9/11 terrorist attacks happened in 2001, korean(대문자> Koreans were) was able to know the siginificant events from the television. Television news delieverd considerably oversimplified information focusing on the visual images, which made people not to fully understand the issues. Fortunately, through the daily newspapers, people had a oppurtunites to understand the details of the attacks and the behind stories instead of not knowing what was going on in the world.(necessary??)
In addtion, by reading books, people can soak in information based on their own pace. This is due to the fact that books provide enuogh time to fully understand, while television moves too fast , which makes people go back to what are unclear them(makes people to miss some information, leaving them with unclear news) . For example, I really liked to read the history books but had hard time understanding totally after having read only one time.Through reading books, I was able to control the pace of reading, being capable of re-reading the sections that I was unclear to me( the unclear parts) and skipping the parts that I was familiar with. On the other hand, it is difficult to go back to what I did was not understand on the television, unless I rewind it again.
In brief, reading books is more valuable than watching television because it enables people to understand a story more in-depth and soak in information based on their own pace. In this sense, the importance of reading books can not be underestimated in the modern society.
