It is ongoing debate whether it is more important to satisfy with a job than to have a high salary. Some people believe that proper compensations are more important, however, I strongly believe that being a happy with a job is the most important factor to choose job. Because money cannot make people happy and people who are satisfied with their own job tend to get a better result on their field.
First, better compensations do not guarantee happier lives. In other word, even though someone paid a higher salary, he would not be satisfied with his position and lives if he does not truly like his work. My brother's example illustrate this point vividly. After graduation, my brother entered a large company as a administrator of the department of human resource. He wanted to be an writer, however, he decided to work on other area, not a literature field which was considered to be hard to make enough money to live. When he worked in a large company, he looked so tired and exhausted after burden of works. He always went to his bed without any words. For one year, he lived such tedious and monotonous lives. However, his friend inspired my brother to come back to the field of literature and to write some novels or articles. My brother seemed to be more happier when he started to write again, which was his perpetual dream. Now, he is satisfied with his new job to the fullest.
Second, people who work with deep satisfaction tend to get a better result. This is hard to deny that people who really love his work have better productivity and efficiency. According to the study conducted by Harvard University professor, people who like and content with their own job demonstrate more than 40% of productivity than those who work only for compensations and money. The study stated that the more satisfaction with job the more productivity because employees can engross with his work with profound interest and pleasure. The survey conducted by Korea Gallup also reveals 80% of those polled said that they wanted to have a job with satisfactory rather than one with higher payment because they could show their abilities to the fullest when they had a favorable job.
To sum up, I firmly believe that it is more beneficial to have a job that we really like than have a one with only higher payments. That is because higher salaries cannot make us happier and being happy with a job lead us to attain better achievements. |
