A lot of controversy exists over whether university students should take classes in many different subjects or not. Although university students should focus on skills needed for work and it is easy to make friends if they take classes only related to their major, I agree that university students should take classes in many different subjects. This is because it helps you to equip yourself with various skills and makes you more tolerant of others' opinions.
To begin with, it is beneficial that students approach many different subjects for they can equip themselves with various skills from each type of class which requires different skill set. The knowledge and the skills that you have acquired and practiced will make a great impact on your life later on. For example, as a undergraduate student mojoring in english literature, i took a midicine course which turned out to be very helpful in daily life. Although i didn't get a good grade and had a great knowledge about it, i get to know about human body reacts to medicine, and which also related to human's mind. These basic knowledge and skills to think medical way helps me to understand human and science.
In addition, taking a variety of subjects offer the students to encouter different kidns of people. The students who are exposed to this are likely to be receptive and are well aware of others' opinion. For instance, when i was taking education sociology class we had a group discussion about school education is contribute to social equality. I was enlightend by a few students' perspectives and get to be more informed than to be in the dark. This events helps me to become open-mined as i meet the people who have different ideas against mine.
In conclusion, taking many different subjects confer the students various skills and knowledge and help them be tolerant of others' opinion. As a member of the society students should contribute to it and experiences, knowledge and skills you get from university would play a role the most.
