It is often said that people are never satisfied with what they have and they always want something more and something different. However, some people may be opposed to this statement on the grounds that people can be satiated by what they aleady have. In my opinion, people can't be satisfied with current belongings for the following reasons. First, human being have natural instinct to have more and new things and socialized to pursue those things. Furthermore, various advertisements allure people to want more and more and for their profits.
This is because most people tend to readily bored with what they possess. To be specific, a large number of babies who have not yet socialized cry or shout in order to get what they want. They have tendency to grab more than two candies with tiny hands even though they can only seize one. Furthermore, people are socialized to try to be better and to obtain more. It is important not to content with what they already have in this rapidly - changing capitalist society based on possession. In fact, many social organization such as family, school, the workplace constantly stimulate people to pursue something higher and newer. Let me take a personal example. My family members never told me "That's good enough." This shows that our society and age is based on possession and we can not escape from infulences of society we live in.
In addition, today's business commercials encourage people to want more possessions. One significant reason is that countless company are struggling to maximize their profits. They use various ways to seduce people to desire their product ranging frome TV commercials to daily newspaper. These advertisements imply that buying up-to-date products will make them happy and content. For example, my friend Joy purchased new MP3 player last year. However, few months later, he saw a commercial for the latest MP3 player with several extra functions such as larger memory capacity and radio. This commercial made Joy want the new player and he eventually bought the new device even though his former one is in perfect condition In this sense, advertisements stimulate people's desire to own the newest and best items.
In conclusion, it is quite obvious that people are hard to satisfy with what they have. This is because people are born with natural desire and they persistently affected by temptation. The importance of these factors should not be underestimated to understand people's behavior.
