Because of globalization, society is getting more complicated. Some may hold the opinion that students should do daily homework to be more competitivel. I agree with their stance to the extend that students should try hard to survive in this globalized world. However, I think that daily assignment is inappropriated when it comes to pressure and creative thinking.
To begin with, daily homework would cause students to be stressed out. By giving up their time to rest, students gradually degrade their health. It is not only bad for their body but also their minds. Students who are sick cannot perform well. For example, I had to do many homework everyday when I was in middle school. I had no time to exercise or to go out. Soon, I could not concentrate on learning and I received poor grades. As my experience shows, daily homework hinders students from relieving stress and has negative effects on their performance.
In addition, students cannot think creatively when they have to do assignments daily. This is primarily because they are forced to accept given directions and not to develop their potentials. Korea, for instance, had a policy, "Compulsory homwork" in 1970s. The policy was aimed for better education. It seemed like students was smarter due to daily assignments. However, Koreans found that their education was "dead education". Korean students ranked the lowest in creativity test and their knowledge was merely practical. As it illustrates, daily assignments prevent creative thinking.
To summarize, I firmly believe that daily homework has negative effects rather than positive ones. This is due to its harmful effects on student's health and creativity.
