Is it better to read a book just one time? or more than two times? |
It was often a controversial issue in high school days whether reading a book many times is unnecessary dut to the high price of books. Some of my friends said that if one read a book for pleasure, one time is enough. I prefer, however, the idea that reading a book over and over as possible is better for the following reasons. It make readers understand a book deeply and memorize it for long time.
First, readers can appreciate a book deeply. Readers are able to have other feelings whenever they read a book again. I have experience about this. My husband gave me "The Chicken soup for couples" after his business trip. When I read it first, I was touched in some section but bored mostly. Recently I read it again by chance, I was sympathized the people in anecdeotes and I droped tears as reading. Now It beome one of my favorite books. If I did not read it again, I could not understand the contents in the book completely.
Second, reading a book many times helps readers recall informations in a book. It is impossible that people remember the whole book after reading it just one time. 'Sam Guk Gi', which is a kind of historic novels, gives me a bountiful amount of information whenever I read it. When I read it ten years ago, I could not remember all characters in it and just enjoyed the whole story. When I read it these days, I can focus on each character and the relations of each event in close.
In conclusion, reading a book repeatly is beneficial on the views of appreciation and getting information. If you want to understand a book completely, reading again is the best and fast way for it if you do not have a talent to remember all in one time. |
