▶ Your Answer : The reading passage says that prairie dogs must be killed because they give negative effects in many parts. However, the lecturer thinks it is not a good idea to exterminate them. There are three reasons why the lecturer thinks. First, prairie dogs don't harm the land. The reading passage states that prairie dogs dig holes and it makes soil unstable. But prairie dogs can prevent soil from erosion by this behavior. When they dig their burrows, they can make soil looser, and then water from rain will be able to be absorbed into the soil well. Thus, the prairie dogs give a positive effect to land. The next, they don't spread fatal diseases. The reading passage says the prairie dogs carry diseases and it is very critical to people. But this statement is not believable. If people get a disease, it would be caused by rats or etc, because prairie dogs have characteristic to avoid people. So, there are less probability to contact with people and spread diseases. Finally, prairie dogs don't affect livestock. The reading passage tells us the prairie dogs eat the food that livestock have to eat. However, the lecturer says that prairie dogs make more nutritional value to what livestock eat. For there reasons, the lecturer disagrees the points of the reading passage |
