오늘날의 삶이 grandparent가 아이였을 때 시절보다 쉽고 안락하다. |
This world has changed dramatically in many aspects for decades. Consequently, a huge gap exists in between the younger generation and older generation. It is evident that both of them are differentiated by the way they think and behave in their lives. Personally, I totally disagree with the statement that today's life is easier and more comfortable than the old times. In other words, both the young and old feel uncomfortable with fast-changing society. The rationale behind this is that youth has to go through harsh competition for their success. In addition, the old have to learn new, numerous values of society recently as society changed.
There is a saying that, "living in a society is a succession of numerous competitions." Especially, the young feel burdened since they experience harsh competitions throughout their lives. As society developed, people's quaility of life have developed. As more people take into material values account which is limited, such as money, power, or fame, more competition they have to experience. As a first step of success, highschool students compete with their friends to go to top universities. They study harder than the older generation did. Therefore, they are more likely to get stressed out from their heavy load of school work. In this respect, for the young, advance of this society bring more hard tasks they have to do.
Additionally, the old feel pressured as they have to learn new things, such as how to deal with innocative technical tools, as the society changed. Cell phones, computers, and digital television are those. To learn how to use these materials is easy for the younger generation, but not for the older generation. For the old, it is evident that to learn about technology and skills is definitely difficult and complicated because they are not familiar with those. They think these additional technology is unneccessary but they have to get used to these to live their lives. What is more, the society have been converted more rapidly in an every aspect of people's life, older people have to adapt as fast as possible to catch up the change or they fall behind and feel isolated. In this sense, the old generation think that this society is uncomfortable to live than the time when they grew up.
To conclude, the old as well as the young have to face more difficulties than before. More competitions the young get to face, more stress they are under. Also, for the old, they have to learn more things rapidly as the world changed. For both of them, they are inevitably living in extremely busy lives. Sometimes, they need to have a short break and ponder about their lives to pursuit their happiness. |
